"The Leach Report" Radio Show Highlights: Tuesday, July 12, 2011

This Tuesday edition of The Leach Report featured Larry Vaught of vaughtsviews.com and John Pennington of MrSEC.com

John and Tom talked about various football commitments throughout the SEC. "Tennessee is the real seller-dweller in the SEC right now," Pennington said in regards to Tennessee currently only having two commits. Pennington also revealed that UK has 13 commits but six of them are unranked.

Tom asked Pennington about Georgia's offensive line and running backs, which were their areas of struggle last season. "Unfortunately, offensive line is taking the most hits in terms of injury," Pennington explained.

Larry Vaught helped Tom switch topics into basketball recruiting. "Perry Ellis was a big priority in this recruiting class," Vaught commented when referring to Coach John Calipari's strong pursuit of the recruit. Vaught also said that Calipari and Orlando Antigua have been impressed with Ellis since his days at Memphis, where Ellis' sister played basketball. When speaking about his interview with Ellis' family, Vaught uncovered, "Cal offered Perry his first scholarship when he was a freshman."

Vaught also expressed intrigue with the camaraderie of the incoming class of basketball recruits, "They just seemed to bond together immediately."

Tom and Vaught could not end the show without commenting on football. Vaught had very positive things to share about a recent media session with Morgan Newton. "I think he has a better understanding of who he is and what he is as a quarterback," Vaught exclaimed. He believes Andre Woodson's influence on Newton has assisted Newton in embracing the leadership role.
