The Kentucky Wildcats control their own destiny as far as their goal of playing in a bigger bowl game this season. And tonight's game against Louisiana-Monroe could play a key role in achieving that goal. Why? Because as Rich Brooks noted this week, the Cats have to find a way to get the passing game going and the numbers say this is the team to do it against. ULM ranks in the top 20 nationally in rushing defense but 111th in pass defense. I hold to the belief that Chris Matthews is going to bust out at some point and become a serious big play guy for this team and tonight could be the night. ULM likes to stack eight men in the box so Matthews may get some single coverage opportunities. Kentucky is developing into one of the best teams in the SEC at running the football, but opponents will load up with enough players to shut down that ground game if the Cats can't make plays in the air. Perhaps freshman Morgan Newton can gain some confidence in a matchup like this before he jumps back into SEC play next week.
