Tom's Take: personnel talk

Lots of personnel and injury talk from coach Joker Phillips after today's afternoon practice. Here are some highlights:
*Ryan Tydlacka is the punter but no decision has been made on who will kick off and kick FGs
*a nagging injury has kept RB Donald Russsell in a boot and they are counting heavily on him on special teams
*Smith is more consistent at center while Lanefski has the "mean streak" that Phillips wants, so that's a tossup at center
*with McCaskill lost for the year and King & Adams nursing minor ailments, several other wideouts--Roark, Boyd, Fields, Michael Harper--are getting reps but "they're not there yet," said Phillips
*Ronnie Sneed is moving closer to locking up middle linebacker because Qua Huzzie is missing practices with a blister
*defensive tackle position looking solid; he talked up Donte Rumph and Luke McDermott for reserve roles but said defensive end has been inconsistent as Evans and Ukwu remain day-to-day with physical issues (nothing major)
