Tom's Take: shrewd PR move for the Cats

ESPN's Jeanine Edwards will be the featured speaker at this year's women's clinic for the UK men's basketball program. That's gold, Jerry, PR gold. (a little tweaked Seinfeld reference for you). When Florida came to Rupp Arena last winter, Billy Gillispie had a chance to make a move that probably would have kept him employed at UK for another season. When exiting the court at halftime, Gillispie could have gently draped his arm around Edwards' shoulder, apologized for his rude treatment of her at Ole Miss and said something like "what can I do for you?" Instead, he dissed her for a second straight time. And a moment that could have captured the nation's heart instead became a second straight embarrassment for the UK administration. Now, the program led by John Calipari is inviting Edwards to town to be the featured speaker at this clinic. I'm guessing she'll be treated considerably better on this visit. Given that ESPN is the "worldwide leader" and all--and the major TV partner of the SEC--that is nothing but smart.
