Tom's Take: strange stats

Don't be surprised if some stats change in the coming days in the Kentucky-LSU boxscore.  There was an unbelievably low number of assists for both teams and UK officials will be checking the tape to see if there should have been more assists and rebounds that were crediited.  I guarantee you the assist number was off and I think Patterson may have two or three more rebounds that he got credit for.  Not sure what happened but it seemed clear when we reviewed the postgame boxscore that some stats were off.  As for the game, what I liked from Kentucky's standpoint is how the Cats took care of business and did not play down to the level of their competition.  And not enough was said in the wrapups about Kentucky's defense, led by Patrick Patterson's lockdown on Tasmin Mitchell and Eric Bledsoe's four steals.  Since the South Carolina loss, Kentucky has definitely gotten better.  There could be a setback or two between now and tournament time, but it looks like this team is getting the message that as good as it is now, it needs to get better before mid-March.
