Tom's Take: testing Cats' maturity

It's an intersting test today for the maturity of an extremely young Kentucky team.  LSU has only broken 60 points in two of its eight SEC games this season and a columnist for the Baton Rouge paper said in today's story that the media buzz after Thursday's Tennessee game was more about what Kentucky's margin would be rather than what LSU could do to pull off the upset.  If the Wildcats come out today at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and play well, it will make a nice statement about how this team is maturing.  Coaches keep practice notes from year to year but coach Cal has never had a team trying to play at this level with this little experience, so it's unchartered territory for him as well.  LSU will try to slow this game down so Kentucky's challenge is to find a way to impose its will and not let the Tigers think they have a chance for the upset.  One intriguing X-and-O aspect to this game is how Kentucky defends Tasmin Mitchell.  You'd think the '3' man would take that responsibility but defense is not Darnell Dodson's strong suit.  Could Darius Miller rise to the moment and come up big today, if called upon to guard Mitchell?
