Tom's Take: the first step for UK

John Calipari to this point has shown himself to be a guy that delivers on his promises--including the one about the basketball looking ugly early in the season.  There were 23 turnovers and it felt like more but this is a team with six newcomers trying to learn an offensive system that is quite different from anything they've played before.  The lackluster three-point shooting will throw up a red flag to many, too.  Without Jodie Meeks, we all knew that three-point shooting would be a question mark for this team.  Last night did nothing to quell those doubts, but remember that most of the three's that were attempted didn't come out of the offense.  Once the Dribble Drive offense starts to click--and that could take awhile--some guys other than Darnell Dodson might start to hit some three's.  All you can really tell from this scrimmage is something you already knew--the Cats have a great deal more athleticism than last year.  Other than that, it's too soon to make any definitive judgements.
